Follow the steps below to complete a Beyes M-600M, M-800M turbine replacement.

1. Tools Needed
To begin the Beyes M-600M, M-800M turbine replacement, you need the failing handpiece, a new Premium Turbine, a dental explorer or scaler, a cotton tip applicator, and a universal back cap wrench.

2. Remove Cap
Use the side of the universal back cap wrench to twist back cap off in a counterclockwise direction to access the turbine.

3. Twist Cap with Fingers
Once the cap is loosened, use your fingers to twist the cap the remainder of the way until it separates from the handpiece.

4. Remove Turbine
With the cap off, you can remove the turbine from the head of the Beyes handpiece. The o-ring holds the turbine into place. The o-ring may cause resistance due to the turbine dropping out of the handpiece. If the turbine does not drop out on its own, put a bur into the front of the handpiece and press it against a table to dislodge the turbine.

5. Remove Back Cap Washer
Using a dental explorer or scaler, remove the 3-point washer from the back cap and set aside. You should always keep all of the components that came out of the handpiece until the repair is complete. A handpiece can wear over time and may work better with the old springs, washers, or o-rings.

6. Remove Back Cap O-Ring
Using a dental explorer or scaler, remove the o-ring from the back cap by raising one edge of the o-ring and pulling it away from the ridge in the back cap.

7. Line Up the Pieces
When you remove the turbine, be sure to line up the rear washer and o-ring in the order that you removed them from the handpiece. This will guide you during the re-assembly process and ensure all pieces are replaced in the correct order.

8. Remove Front O-Ring
Removing the front o-ring is similar to how you removed the rear back cap o-ring. Using a dental explorer or scaler, remove the o-ring from the head by raising one edge of the o-ring and pulling it away from the ridge. Use the raised edge to pull the remainder of the o-ring from the head of the handpiece.

9. Remove Front Washer
Removing the front 3-point washer is similar to how you removed the washer from the back cap. Using a dental explorer or scaler, remove the 3-point washer from the front of the handpiece and set aside.

10. All Components Removed
Line up all of the pieces that you removed from the handpiece and keep them out for the remainder of the repair. You should have a head o-ring and washer, the turbine assembly, and a rear o-ring and washer. These components should correspond to the components in the Premium Turbine Kit. A rule of thumb when doing turbine replacement is what comes out must go back in.

11. Clean the Back Cap
There may be a buildup of debris or dried lubricant that will need to be cleaned from the cap. Using a cotton tip applicator, wipe out any gunk or debris from the back cap of the handpiece. You can aid this cleaning process by using lubricant or water. Continue this process until the cotton tip applicator comes out clean from the cap with no residue.

12. Clean the Head
Using the same process, clean the handpiece’s head with the cotton tip applicator until the applicator comes out clean from the cap with no residue.

13. Check Turbine Kit Components
Have the Beyes M-600M, M-800M Premium Turbine Kit in front of you. Remove all the contents from the vial and order them according to the components that were removed from the handpiece. The order of the components we provide should be a small 3-point washer in the front, front o-ring, turbine, a large 3-point washer in the rear and a rear o-ring.

14. Install Rear O-ring
Place the rear o-ring into the back cap with your fingers. Using a dental scaler or explorer, cinch half of the o-ring into the cap until it holds in that position. Remove your scaler or explorer from the handpiece and slowly drag the opposite edge of the o-ring down into the cap. Repeat this process until the o-ring is fully situated into the ridge on the back cap.

15. Install Rear Washer
The larger of the two 3-point washers provided in the Turbine Kit goes into the back cap of this handpiece. The 3-point washer sits just past the o-ring in the back cap and provides spring to protect the rear bearing and button of the turbine from contacting with the back cap while in use. Using a scaler or explorer, push this 3-point washer past the o-ring into the cap until it sits flat.

16. Install Front O-ring
If you have never done turbine replacements before, replacing the front o-ring is the hardest part of the repair. Don’t be discouraged by this because it gets easier with a minimal amount of practice. Like the back cap o-ring, cinch half of the o-ring into the groove in the head until it holds. Remove the scaler or explorer from the head of the handpiece and slowly drag the opposite edge of the o-ring down into the head. Repeat this process until the o-ring is fully situated into the head of the handpiece.

17. Install Front Washer
The smaller of the two 3-point washers provided in the Turbine Kit goes into the head of the handpiece. This washer sits just past the o-ring in the head of the handpiece. Install the washer by dropping it into the head of the handpiece. If needed, adjust the washer’s placement past the o-ring using a dental scaler or explorer. The front and rear 3-point washers together act to counterbalance the turbine and keep the turbine in the correct position for concentric rotation and torque.

18. Install Turbine into Cap
You have now replaced all of the hardware in the head and back cap of the dental handpiece. You can now install your turbine. To install the turbine, place the rear bearing of the turbine into the back cap and wiggle it until it feels like it is all the way in. Once in place, hold the cap only and wiggle it. The o-ring inside the back cap should hold the rear bearing tightly in place and the turbine should not fall out of your back cap. If the turbine does not hold, please look at the previous steps to make sure the rear o-ring is installed properly and try again.

19. Install Turbine
Place the entire assembly of the turbine and back cap into the head of the handpiece and turn the cap in a clockwise direction. Continue to twist the cap on with your fingers until you cannot tighten it any more.

20. Complete the Replacement
Complete the Beyes M-600M, M-800M turbine replacement repair by fully tightening the cap with the side of the universal back cap wrench. At this point, you should be able to rotate the bur freely with your fingers as well as use the push button for bur insertion and removal. If any of these functions do not work, you will need to go back and repeat the turbine replacement installation steps. Always remember to lubricate, bag, and sterilize your handpiece before use.
